  • Welcome to the Sanctuary

Welcome, Traveller... to the Sanctuary. I am glad that you have made the trip over here safely... the ancient trails have become much more perilous of late; the fey folks are friskier and the wild creatures are getting less shy of Abreed folk. By the way, I am known as Solitaire-lupus and I shall be your guide in this wooded realm of ours.

Its boundaries stretching from the dense oak and silver birch trees of the Northern Forest of Annywn in the Northwest to the Great Plains to the East, the Sanctuary is the home to several Wolf packs - a true wilderness primarily free of humans... well, save for the odd Druids, Rangers and/or Travellers such as your good self, of course, even then I must admit it has been quite a few years since I have the pleasure of meeting someone as remarkable as you.

As you can see from the very first moment you stepped into verdant realm, predators and prey of various sizes roams freely throughout this vast unspoilt land without fear, eternally engaged in the circle of Life-Death-Rebirth. While all life from the smallest of mices to the ever-proud eagles are venerated here, the Wolves are the true Masters of this land...

Humans and wolves are so much alike that we do take an unusual interest in one another. Us wolves have often followed humans with what humans have always felt as friendly curiosity, perhaps even a desire for companionship with them. And humans have, for thousands of years, adopted and felt with us a mutual sense of companionship; our inherent wildness, their source of inspiration, creativity, curiousity and even the occassional fear. It is therefore not very surprising to see members of both of our species tentatively approach the other to learn more about each other... which I assume that is why you are here now.

    For the ease of your navigation, the Sanctuary is divided into several sections, namely;

    • Introduction
    • Mythology
    • Scientific Facts and/or Studies
    • International Wolf Recovery Efforts
    • Current Events
    • Where Wolves can be Found
    • Additional Readings
    • FAQ
    • Picture Gallery
    • Current News, Articles and Events
    • Activism - What Can You do to Help the Wolves
    • Web Rings and Links
    • Interactive - Guestbook and Quiz

You have a choice before you, my friend - you could either follow the path in the guided sequence, or feel free to wander around as you will. Please click on the links located either on the left hand side of the screen as seen on this page, the navigational scroll down menu, and/or right at the bottom of the screen in any page where you can see a score of links or so, and it will bring you to your desired area, or simply click the 'back' and/or 'forward' button(s) found on your browser when there is a need to. But before you proceed, may I suggest that you read the Disclaimer first.

Incidentally, all works found herein are copyrighted, so if you wish to take something from the Sanctuary for your personal research, paper, website, collection, etc., please contact the respective copyright holder or source them correctly at very least. If it is something of mine, I would certainly appreciate it if you could link it back to me at http://annwyn.com/wolf. If you have seen something here that belongs to you, and you prefer not to see them published here or would like to see some changes in the copyright information, please let me know and I will alter or remove it. Thank you.

If you have any queries or suggestions, or even to report a broken link, please do not hesitate to contact me. I can be easily reached. See my face at the bottom of every page as you move around the Sanctuary? Just click on it to send me a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible. While I may not be able to answer some technical questions, I will try my best to refer you to sources that I think may be able to help you in some way. At any rate please check our excellent wolf resources for further details. And if you can add to that ever-growing list, please let me know.

What started as a micro-site highlighting the qualities of the wolf has turned into a downright obsession, and a full blown standalone site. In fact, it has been an internal joke amongst friends to see if I could actually ever complete the Sanctuary because I have this strange urgent need, bordering in near-religious fervour to keep adding new and revamping things every so often. I must apologise for the perpetual clutter in here, and do hope that you would bear with my idiosyncracies.

In fact, since us Wolves are rather sociable sort, I would be absolutely delighted if you can take the time and leave me a message in the Guestbook. Well, enough yabbing from little old me now. The rest of the Pack are waiting eagerly for your arrival... so, you have better hurry along...
